Good day all. I am Francois van Rooyen. I’ve been living in Secunda, Mpumalanga, South Africa for the past 3 years and started my Knife Workshop 5 years ago after taking a fixed blade course with Mr. Andre Thonburn from Pretoria, a mentor of note.



I take pride in making knives that will last and that I would like to use myself. I make solid working knives without unnecessary curves, bumps, blood grooves, and other embellishments that, in most cases, add nothing to the capabilities or use of a knife- in other words “Simply Made”.
The knife designs are purpose driven in form, function, and performance. They have been proven in the field by fellow hunting companions and friends. When you purchase a Simply Made Knife, you will get the finest materials, clean workmanship, and attention to details... a knife that will do the job it was intended to do.



Every process is done in my shop, by me. It may take a little longer to finish a knife this way, but it allows me to put my heart and soul into each knife I make.
Construction – All my knives are made by the stock removal process, without the aid of jigs, fixtures, or computer controlled machinery. Knives are full-tang construction, with handle scales and bolsters attached using adhesives, pinning and mechanical fasteners such as screws, pins, and rivets. Because of their construction, full tang knives are very durable but even very durable knives can be damaged by abuse. Throwing, pounding on either the blade or handle, or using the knife as a pry bar, may result in damage or destruction of the knife.


Sheaths - Sheaths are locally manufactured from quality cowhide leather, with either double stitched or fully riveted construction. Most sheath designs are pouch type and many have snapped straps.
